Components Sourcing Service

Component Sourcing Service is a key part of our turnkey PCB assembly services. We take care of comprehensive components sourcing to improve our PCB assembly production efficiency, and enable you designers and engineers have more time on research and development, engineering and design. Sometimes, people call it Parts Sourcing. Components sourcing is always team work between the network of components purchaser, engineer, sales, customer and component suppliers. When it comes to PCB assembly, maybe you feel problematic in lead time coordination, component overages, communication with your designer about part alternative and its logistic, multiple component suppliers and your PCB assembly service provider.

Components sourcing is really a big drain of energy, time and resources but not for the PCB assembly provider which has years’ experience in circuit board assembly and this allows us to build strong cooperation with those authorized and famous component suppliers, including Digi-key, Mouser, Arrow, Avnet and etc., and they make it possible for us to source any of your required components at reasonable prices, thus Low Cost PCB Assembly is possible for you.

Full Turnkey and Partial Turnkey PCB Assembly

Components Sourcing Service can be offered when you choose our Full Turnkey PCB Assembly Service or Partial Turnkey PCB Assembly Service and SMT assembly service. They have similar feature to reduce your energy and time to source electronic components, including overage calculations, BOM managing, logistics, inventory checking and etc.

Full Turnkey PCB Assembly includes all spectrum of services as following:

  • Sourcing components and materials, and payment
  • Order tracking, shipment, logistics with assembly facility
  • Printed circuit board assembly
  • Quality control
  • Packing and shipping to you

Partial Turnkey PCB Assembly allows customers to take control of one or more of the processes listed above. Typically, customers would be sourcing and shipping some or all of the components. In electronics manufacturing industry, we sometimes think it as Consignment Assembly service or Partial Consignment Assembly Service.

The consignment assembly model is becoming less and less common due to the many benefits that come with fully turnkey assembly.

Partial Turnkey Assembly and Consignment Options

  • Consignment: Full consignment means you provide us all materials and components required for a specific project, and then we complete the PCB assembly and shipping you’re the completed products.
  • Stock Consignment: A stocking consignment is similar to full consignment but is an ongoing relationship. You ship us all materials and components sourced by you and have us stock them for future use, ensuring moisture-free and standard storage temperature conditions, proper inventory levels and quick access for new orders.
  • Combination / Hybrid Consignment: also called partial consignment. in this scenario, you provide some of the materials and/or components.

Benefits of Turnkey PCB Assembly from Us

All above no matter full turnkey, partial turnkey or consignment, are describing the responsibility percentage (all or part) for material and component sourcing. Processing your PCBA project in our PCB assembly House is beneficial for many reasons as following:

  • We have built strong cooperation with those authorized and famous component suppliers, including Digi-key, Mouser, Arrow, Avnet and etc., we can get almost all components required in your project with better rates, accurate ordering and delivery.
  • Turnkey PCB assembly minimizes or eliminates the need for extra inventory storage for the electronic components.
  • On-time delivery of proper overages.
  • Saves time for you to utilize more effectively on other aspects of the project.
  • More control of quality assurance through every step of the process, including proper shipment, storage and a wide range of PCBA testing protocol.
  • Eliminates BOM and consignment kit inconsistencies (that may arise from part substitutions or additions/updates).
  • Benefit from the latest technology without new capital expenditures.
  • Reduced in-house kitting costs, including labor and intermediary shipping/receiving.
  • Typically, a full turnkey assembly will lead to a quicker delivery and more consistent end-products leading to a shorter time to market!

Component Overages and Quantities

The quantities required below is for assembling and shipping PCBAs smooth without shipping delay. It also would be for each setup of the feeder and remaining parts will be lost during the removal and re-installation. So, if the PCB assembly job is being set up more than one time or on future runs, additional components will be required.

Component Size/Type Need less than 20 pieces Need less than 50 pieces Need less than 100 pieces

Continuous Strips and Tapes for Consignment

  • Proper SMT machine setup and operation requires parts overages (or extra parts) because there is a small length between the feeder and the picking nozzle of the SMT placement machine can’t be used. Besides, the machine may throw away some parts, and parts uploading to the feeders may be missed by manual. Unused and excessive parts supplied by you or purchased by us will be packaged and returned to you with the PCB assemblies.
  • SMT parts which are not supplied on reels should be on one continuous strip of tape. If you need to assemble different PCB boards with the same SMT parts, please do not cut them into more strips, just keep them in the continuous strip of the tape or on the reels.
  • Standard of parts purchasing quantity or quantity provided for PCB Assembly Prototypes as below chart. For high-volume PCB assembly runs, extra part by percentages is Ok for us. All extra parts are necessary for ensuring smooth assembling and shipping your assembled boards on time
  • If some parts are provided by you, please ship each kit separately. Do not combine multiple orders in one box, unless kits are clearly marked and separated. All kits should have a packing list showing all the items and quantities included in the kit. We appreciate an email sent to us with the tracking information, especially when drop shipping multiple components from suppliers.
