Requirements on PCB Files

The PCB files formats are different from various design software, but we can manufacture your flexible, rigid-flex and rigid printed circuit boards (PCBs) if you provide us the following files.

If you want us to provide Complete PCB Assembly Service including PCB production, parts sourcing and SMT assembly and DIP assembly, the PCB design file and BOM are the two required information for PCB Assembly quote and lead time. Requirements on PCB Specifications

Excluding the specifications, including PCB size, layer count, minimum trace width and spacing, minimum hole diameter, minimum annular ring, can be easily got in the gerber files from the CAM software, we also need those cannot got as following:

• PCB Quantity and/or PCBA Quantity
• PCB Thickness
• PCB Stack-up (for multilayer board. For example: L1-GTL, L2-G1, L3-GP1, L4-G2, L5-G3, L6-GBL)
• Finished Copper Thickness for each layer

Sounds simple but it is important to provide the component details. Taking a smart mobile phone mainboard as an example, it is a combination of PCB, capacitors, resistors, Inductors, CPU, GPU, RAM, ROM, wifi/GPS/Bluetooth module, antenna, metal shielding and etc. The BOM contains the item number of each component, designators, quantity per board, manufacturer, manufacturer part number, description, package, assembly type and note if in necessary. Tips for making A BOM

When your PCB design is completed, then you can extract the BOM. This process is relatively straightforward, but finding and updating the information is challenging. You need to check and revise all components information before sending it to your PCB assembly supplier because some component information is not detailed, not available, or not the latest revise. Here are some tips for creating a BOM success.

1. Be as details as possible.There is nothing to be gained by skimming on the details in your BOM. This one document alone needs to communicate exactly what parts your design is made from, so someone reading it can put the pieces together to understand your intent better.

2. All components should be available. There is nothing worse that slapping a part number down on your BOM that you know was available at one time but is no longer manufactured. To avoid this, be sure to confirm that the part numbers you enter are available. Otherwise, you might find yourself reworking your design to replace an obsolete or unavailable component.
3. Instantly track your changes. Whether you’re the only person that will see your BOM or you hand it off to your PCB Assembly Manufacturer, we always recommend keeping track of every change you make. Part availability can change at moments notice, and the parts your needed yesterday might be different today. Create BOM files with specific naming conventions that include a date, so you know which file is the most accurate and up to date.
