COB

COB is the abbreviation of Chip On Board, a bare silicon chip, that is usually an integrated circuit, is supplied without a package. It can often be identified by having a blob of black Epoxy instead of a square package. Also used for LEDs. In LEDs, the epoxy is poured into a mold which forms part of the package.
